Economic Gardening is an economic development program that provides strategic research and analysis for stage 2 growth companies. The name comes from the idea that instead of economic developers going out and recruiting new companies (economic hunting), the community will stay at home and grow its local companies (economic gardening).
The program focuses on:
- Business research into markets
- Competitors
- Industry trends
- Strategic company issues
- Similar custom research
Frameworks for thinking about root problems preventing growth (core strategy, market dynamics, innovation, temperament, qualified sales leads).
Eligibility
The Rancho Cordova Area Chambers applications for the Economic Gardening Program are open now.
- Located in Rancho Cordova
- Have between $1 million and $50 million in annual revenue
- Employ at least 5, but no more than 99 employees
- Demonstrate growth in employment and/or revenue for at least 2 of the past 5 years
- Sells to external markets outside the city
- Retail, restaurant establishments do not qualify for this program per the standards of the National Center of Economic Gardening
